When I first read that the Bergen Record's website remodel included the ability for anyone to post a comment on their stories, I thought, "oh jeez, now the Bergen Record is going to look like a blog, with countless idiotic comments on every subject." And I'll tell you that from what I've read so far, I was right.
However, sitting here this morning reading some of the comments on the recent review of Paramus's Biagio's restaurant, I had a change of heart: this is some of the most entertaining stuff I've read in a while! Thank you Bergen Record!
While reading the hilarious comments which refer to "colleagues" and "this establishment", chuckling at the word choice and thought process of random strangers, and baffled by their love for such a mediocre run-of-the-mill, depressing restaurant, I was asked by the missus "Have you *eaten* at Biagio's to know that these people are wrong??"
"Well, no, but I just know these things," I proclaim, confidently of course.
"Don't you think you should actually try it before passing judgment?", she insists, slyly. "Maybe it's the best fine dining establishment in Bergen county, but you wouldn't know because you've never actually eaten there", she says.
The gauntlet has been thrown. My ethics have been challenged. My taste questioned. My approached catechized. My snobbery chastised. My Thesaurus opened. So I'll be off to Biagio's some time soon. The best part: what the missus doesn't know is that I'm dragging her ass along to as well to help me soak in everything that Biagio's has to offer.
I'll let you know how that all goes. Comments, of course, will be open. I just can't get enough of that stuff. Edit: And here it is.
