Fundraiser for a child-in-need: in Emerson
November 26, 2006
Normally I wouldn't post anything that was asked of me from a restauratuer or anyone associated with--or not associated with for that matter--the restaurant/wine business. I'm making an exception here because I think Christine Nunn, of Picnic Caterers in Emerson, operates above board, and this event seems to be a way to "make a difference" on a local level. Not to mention that I've had Christine's food and it's quite good.
The info is below:
EMERSON/WESTWOOD, NEW JERSEY – To raise much-needed funds for a special baby named Kaley Smith, who suffers with a debilitating brain disorder, Picnic is hosting a $100-a-plate fund raiser starring Sara Moulton, renowned chef, television host and Executive Chef of Gourmet Magazine.
The event is set for 7 p.m. January 16, 2007 at the Woman’s Club of Westwood. It features a three-course dinner with menus designed by Moulton and accompanying wine graciously donated by Cork & Keg Liquors in Emerson. Diners can plan on a wonderful buffet feast featuring some of Moulton’s signature dishes.
“One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the fund, which is managed by the United Way of Bergen County,” said Christine Nunn, owner and chef of Picnic in Emerson. “My vendors have helped us out, and we at Picnic are picking up any additional expense. If you buy a $100 ticket, $100 will go to Kaley’s fund.”
Kaley has Lissencephaly, a rare brain disorder that causes seizures and will not allow her brain to grow. She is blind, has a feeding tube and is on numerous medications, many of which are not covered by insurance. This event will help the family defray enormous expenses.
Attendees also may purchase raffle tickets for everything from All-Clad to Veuve Cliquot Champagne, as well as gift certificates from local merchants.
